((Jan 1st. Open to all for lulz. I suck at naming threads now everyone push him into the water)) The lithe young man had been walking through the flora of the jungle. At least Transformers weren't all too different from humans in terms of build, or else he might have had a difficult time navigating. Still, it was annoying that he couldn't simply fly or hack down a path for himself. Starscream had to keep in mind that his new body would be less durable, and was not so politely reminded of that by just being so bloody short. He kept his orange eyes focused, occasionally darting to either side of him, not getting the best impressions of the jungle territory. Oh, he would have felt so much more confidant if he had his sword with him. He was more cautious than usual, but slipped through the reeds and leaves at a rather swift pace. Something, he couldn't identify what yet, was motivating his fast movement. The noise of water, which was vaguely audible over the sound of wind over the plants, got his attention. Suddenly, he was aware of the dry feeling inside of his flesh-covered mouth. He put two and two together and realized the human desire for water. Starscream was scarcely able to resist the urge and tracked the sound, very soon happening upon the clear liquid. Once the pool was within sight, he crouched low, a bad feeling hitting him once more. He didn't very much like the idea of strolling out into the open in a place he wasn't familiar with, especially when he was alone. Upon a short stone ledge, Starscream remained motionless. It didn't take long before his self-assurance overrided instinctual fear. He was still a trained warrior, robot or not: there was no way he was going to act like a coward! Red-clothed man jumped down from the small incline and landed softly on the stone below. The bottom of his feet and his palms hit at the same instant as he revealed himself to plain sight. Starscream soon stood up to his full height and listened only for a moment before striding toward the edge. Without looking around, he leaned down once more and eyed the blue surface of the pool. He brought a hand into the water and moved it around in small circles, making the surface ripple. Remembering his new need for hydration, he cupped his hands tightly and dipped them under. Uncertainty was apparent on his face as he brought the cold stuff to his mouth.

Vurugu had been dozing beneath some jungle plants near the water, waiting for someone, or something, to come by. She had had her fill of the water before dozing, and was hoping to snag either a good fight, or a good meal. So far, she hadn't encountered anyone else in this jungle, and had seen scant signs of prey. But everything had to come to the water's edge eventually, so she had picked a good hiding spot with a full view of the water, and settled in.
After some time had passed, her eyes snapped opened as a human, of all things, dropped into view. her eyes narrowed as she regarded the new arrival. He'd managed to get far closer to her hiding spot than she would have thought possible. But, since he was a human, and didn't seem to have any weapons, she doubted he'd give her much of a challenge in a fight. But, that didn't mean she couldn't have some fun with him.
She crept out from under the thick shrubs she had been concealed, and crept up behind the man, intending to knock him headlong into the water.

Nearby, a small looking elf like creature was walking by. Joe had no idea where he was or why, but he was going to find out and get out of here if it was the last thing he did. He crept over and saw a hyena stalking a man who was gathering water. He decided to watch and wait for them to leave in order to get water.

After lowering his hands, he was allowed to pay better attention to his surroundings. By sight, he didn't notice anything had changed. Starscream was fairly certain he heard something though. Remaining still, the former robot felt it would be a good time to start getting cautious again. Even after making himself silent, he wasn't sure if what he thought he heard was his imagination or not. Why shouldn't he assume there was something behind him? Jungles, to his best knowledge, generally were a hot spot for predators and how that he was human, he needed to take that more seriously. Starscream was pretty sure he heard something coming closer from the rocks behind. Now he realized how inconvenient things would be without heat sensors.
His gaze hardened, but remained on the blank forest in front of him. If it was something - or someone - hostile, turning might be a very bad idea: he couldn't know how close or how far they were. But now that he was sure something was after him, he braced himself for confrontation. Starscream didn't want to risk even standing up completely, because that might also provoke attack. He knew his options were pretty limited, but he might still have a trick or two. One part of him was eager for the thrill of battle. He decided he'd move at the next alarming sound.
I hope this body doesn't make me look like a fool, he thought.

Vurugu continued creeping forward, body held low. Her target didn't even seem to be aware of her presence. Then she paused for a moment as the human's muscles tensed slightly. Hmm. Apparently, he was more alert than he appeared. Good. He just might more fun than she'd first thought! She resumed creeping forward, taking care to move as silently as she could, until she was close enough to leap onto his back.
Tensing her muscles, she looked him over, working out how best to strike. Until she had his measure, she wouldn't bother using her teeth. She decided she'd ram him, instead. Aiming her head at the small of his back, Vurugu leaped forward, teeth bared in a psychotic grin as she braced herself for impact.

Tamora crept through the undergrowth quietly, listening for sounds, looking for any sign of people. When she finally came to a clearing - with water, thank goodness - she froze. There were other people...but in this unknown environment she couldn't yet determine the strangers as friend or foe. Automatically reaching for her gun, but cursing when she remembered it wasn't there, she adopted a readied position should any of them attack her when they saw her. She swept her eyes around the small group present, taking in appearances and trying to make judgement of character.
However, she was distracted by the sight of a hyena barreling towards a man standing by the waterhole. Thinking it was an attack, not just a prank, Tamora's soldier instinct kicked in. She swept up a thick, fallen branch and sprang forward with a shout. "Behind you, civilian!" she called to Starscream.

The first thing that set the former Decepticon off was the sound of the decently weighted creature behind him beginning to run. But both that and the shout of a female voice occurred so closely together, he might have been reacting to both. As he promised himself, the next sound got him into action. He released the tension in his legs and jumped a good distance into the air. In battle, he usually used his upper body, but now that the woman had alerted him that something was indeed behind him, he didn't want to risk hurting an arm he could use to hold a weapon. Instead, he swiveled around quickly as he was landed, swinging his leg out far in front of him. A shrill battle cry sounded from his throat as he kicked out. Starscream hit the ground soon after, scuffing the heel his across the ground as he stopped himself spinning. Now that he was entirely turned around, he could see the animal. It didn't appear as if it vastly out sized him, but words could not express how glad he was that he still retained his fitness in a human form. He was sure that lashing out out, even if it didn't hit, was enough to show that he wasn't someone to be taken lightly. Unnaturally orange irises flicked to one side of him as he began to bare his teeth a little.
"I am a warrior," He stated flatly.
Starscream may have went on, but he wasn't much for witty banter during a surprise fight.

Vurugu snarled in angry frustration as someone else, another human, made her presence known. To her surprise, the human she had been attempting to ambush sprang into the air, causing her to shoot underneath him. She just barely managed to avoid the kick the human had aimed at her, and she sprang backwards as the woman charged forward, armed with a hefty branch.
"A human warrior without weapons?" she snorted, keeping a wary eye on both humans. She then eyed the blond woman. It was plain to see that she was used to fighting as well. And she at least had the sense to grab a weapon. "So, warrior, can you handle yourself in a fight, or do you need to have numbers on your side?" Vurugu asked, baring her teeth in a psychotic grin.
"It's more fun, one on one," Vurugu explained to the blond woman, still eying her warily.

Tamora narrowed her eyes at the hyena, and gripped the branch tighter, stepping forward ever so slightly with a sneer on her face. "I don't care what's fun for you, puppy, now back off," she hissed, throwing an insult in with her order - something she did frequently, whether the insult was intended to sting or not. She moved slowly to Starscream's side, and raised the makeshift weapon in warning. "Go on. Scram!" She was more than prepared to fight the mangy dog if it didn't back away...which she suspected it wouldn't. Her mind was already going through tactics...keep it away from the civilian long enough for them to get a weapon or escape, then, depending on the opponent's stamina and determination, fend them off until the give up or an escape can be made.

It talks?
Starscream lifted a brow. To his better knowledge, non-sentient Earth animals didn't talk. The former-Decepticon tightened his fists and squared his shoulders. As he listened warily at what the hyena had to stay, his snarl began to fade.
"You'd be surprised," Starscream hissed, loosing the edge in his voice, "Furthermore, if I were-"
He stopped himself. What would he say? Somehow he doubted it would be wise to mention his past life as a 20-foot evil robot from outer space. Everyone would have thought he was crazy. Maybe faking insanity wasn't so bad in hindsight. Even so, he felt it went better not announced. His life before, when he thought of it, he was less than proud of and he doubted anyone here would like to sit around and listen to his sob story. Starscream's sneer reappeared again once Tamora came to his aid. The prideful half of him wanted to insist that he didn't need help, but he at least needed a weapon. It was unfortunate a decent sword wasn't just laying around, because that would have been most appreciated. A branch or pointed rock would need to do.
He picked out a low hanging dying limb overhead that was snapped and swinging from a small bit of wood. A cunning smile appeared on his pale features as he anticipated jumping up for it. Starscream launched himself up a few feet and clutched the very end of the limb. When he dropped, the stick snapped off at the weakened break. The red clothed man landed a few feet back from where'd he jumped from. He spun the broken branch around in his right hand so the splinted end faced out. The piece of wood was too light, but it would do fine as a spearing tool - until the dry wood broke. By then, he should be able to move to a more strategic location.
"Let's just see who's a 'civilian' then," Starscream uttered indignantly.

Vurugu's grin widened, as did her eyes. What luck! Two humans willing to fight! She could hardly have asked for better luck. She just watched as the man leaped into the air, grabbing a tree branch to use as a weapon, ignoring the woman's insult. Sure, her jaws could snap their bones with a single chomp, but now that the red-shirted man had armed himself, things had gotten even more interesting.
"And here I was thinking today was going to be so boring!" she exclaimed. Then she grinned mockingly at the blond-haired woman. "You want out? Turn around and walk away. I'm not interested in weaklings. Or, if either of you feel brave, give me your best shot!"
She looked between them, fangs bared in eager anticipation. Even if both of them attacked her, she wouldn't back down. Not even if this fight killed her.

Calhoun's sneer intensified, and she raised the hefty branch higher. She wasn't going to give the animal the satisfaction of banter. She wasn't the type for banter anyway. "Bring it, mutt," she spat, before lunging forward with a growl, swinging the branch heavily in a low swing, gripping it with both hands. Her intention was to knock the hyena down, then perhaps get a few more blows in, taking advantage of the disorientated scramble to get to it's paws to catch it off guard.

Post by Vanellope on Aug 3, 2013 19:39:40 GMT
As the voices reached her ears, the little president's spirits lifted considerably. Vanellope had been wondering for the best part of the morning in a mostly aimless manner, hoping to find something, but just coming across more and more jungle, with little sign of anything to break the momotony of trees, trees, and more trees. The prospect of other beings nearby, hopefully ones who knew where she was, was more than welcome to the girl. Vanellope jumped to another branch - not only did she feel safer up there than on the ground, and she was plenty used to moving casually from branch to branch from the time she'd spent in the candy tree forest of Sugar Rush - carrying her closer to the source of the voices. Another gouple of hops like that from tree to tree, and Vanellope found herself looking down into a clearing with an oasis. It wasn't the water that grabbed the former glitch's attention, however.
"Hey! Calhoun!" The girl was practically extatic to see a familiar face, and though her tone didn't really make this obvious, her body language betrayed her. Swinging one leg up onto the branch so she was sitting fairly stably, Vanellope waved both arms in the sergeant's direction, trying to grab her attention. The others present went completely unnoticed to the girl, glad as she was to find someone she knew.

Starscream saw as Tamora made the first move, more or less as he was anticipating. He knew the caninelike creature would have to react to her attack, so he took that time to sidestep off to a better location, to the right of the water's edge. Never actually having to swim before (without the aid of thrusters), he didn't want to take his chances getting knocking in. He was keeping is body faced toward the animal as he made a distant semicircle around her at a swift pace. Starscream stopped once he faced parallel to the water of the oasis. The splintered end of his branch was pointed out and low to the ground, much akin to a primitive hunter looking to harass some manner of prehistoric beast. The wood had to be fairly fragile if it was that easy to break off, so he needed to be careful how he used it. Furthermore, Starscream had no idea what a hyena was and that they had one of the strongest bites of the animal kingdom and would make short work of a dead stick. He decided he would keep with straight thrusts to reduce the strain put on the pitiful weapon.
Former Decepticon was distracted momentarily, hearing something coming from above. He whipped his head up and off to one side. Once the tree branches were in view, he managed to spot a rather fruitily dressed little girl up there. More tag-along children? Just what he wanted to deal with again. Starscream pursed his lips and brought his head back level to the ground. If she knew what was good for her, she'd stay up there and not make any more disruptions. A small bit frustrated, the thin man made a quick jump foreword and jabbed at the grey-furred hyena with the spiked wood.

Vurugu's grin only widened as the blond woman lunged forward, swinging her stick. Her only other reaction was to lower her body, allowing her to take the blow on her thick shoulder. She staggered to the side, taking her out of Calhoun's range as she let a crazed howl of laughter escape her maw, reveling in the sudden pain, the rush of adrenaline that always coursed through her veins when a good fight started.
"Lady, you've just made my day!" she laughed, spinning to face the blond woman, more wary now. The battle-mad hyena ignored the sudden appearance of the child in the tree. Children didn't interest her. Especially not when there were two capable warriors facing her. A sudden spark of pain in her side made her turn her head, snapping at the end of the long, pointed stick the man had grabbed for himself.
"Congratulations! First blood to you!" she said enthusiastically, feeling a thin trickle of blood flow down her side from where the sharp pint of the stick had pierced her hide. She didn't care where she was anymore, or if she ever got back. She lunged at the man, hurling her full weight at his chest, jaws snapping at his face.
